GRP Cabinets for EV Charging Installations
GRP cabinets for EV charging installations
EV charging installs often put electrical equipment outdoors, at the kerb, in car parks and on commercial sites. The housing for that equipment has to stay protected against weather and dust, and it has to be easy to fit and service. Our GRP cabinets are IP55-rated, non-conductive and manufactured in Wales. They come in Grey or Green and are supplied across the UK.
What the cabinets offer
- Weather protection. IP55-rated, which means protected against dust and low-pressure water jets.
- Non-conductive body. GRP does not conduct electricity, so there is no metal body to bond.
- No coating to maintain. GRP does not rust, so there is no paint to repair after damage.
- Single or double door. Choose the door arrangement that suits your equipment and access.
How to specify a cabinet for an EV install
Start with the equipment you are housing. Note its dimensions, the number of units and the cable routes in and out. Then choose a door arrangement that gives you working room for fitting and servicing. Send that information with your quote request and we will recommend a size from the range below.

Frequently asked questions
Are your cabinets suitable for outdoor EV charging installs?
Our cabinets are IP55-rated and made from GRP, so they suit outdoor sites where protection against dust and water jets is needed. Confirm the specification for your site and equipment before you order.
Do I need a metal enclosure for EV charging?
Not necessarily. GRP is non-conductive, which many installers prefer for outdoor equipment. Earthing still follows your installation design. If your specification calls for metal, check it before you choose GRP.
What range of cabinets do you offer?
The single door range runs from the FS1 to the FS5, and the double door range runs from the FD2 to the FD7. If you need a walk-in enclosure for equipment that an engineer must enter, see the walk-in enclosures page.
What colours are available?
Grey or Green.
What is the cabinet's IP rating?
IP55.
Do you supply to the whole of the UK?
Yes. Fibrelux is based in Llanelli, South Wales and supplies the whole UK.
